Mizuho Financial Group. Inc. said Friday that MFG Vice President Seiji Sugiyama will become president of Mizuho Bank, the group's largest retail unit.
Mizuho Bank President Tadashi Kudo, 60, will step down due to diabetes, MFG said.
Sugiyama, 56, told a news conference that he will transfer some workers from the headquarters to branches to attract more individual customers.
He said he will also review the ongoing restructuring plan and further consolidate branches nationwide, without giving details.
