The international community, including Japan, should demonstrate further commitment toward rebuilding Afghanistan at the donors conference next month in Berlin, according to a senior official of the Asian Development Bank.
"Afghanistan's security situation depends on donors, and (stability) is important for the implementation of the election" to be held in June, Frank Polman told The Japan Times last week.
"Donor assistance and being able to proceed with the political process on schedule (are) closely linked," said Polman, the bank's special representative for Afghanistan and a senior adviser of ADB's South Asia Department.
