Japan and North Korea failed to narrow their differences on the question of the abduction of Japanese nationals before senior Foreign Ministry officials wrapped up a four-day visit to Pyongyang on Saturday, government sources said.
Foreign Ministry officials told reporters that Japanese and North Korean diplomats had agreed to continue bilateral talks on the issue, suggesting a degree of relief that the talks did not break down.
