A fire broke out Tuesday at an electronics store in Tokyo's Akihabara district and two firefighters were slightly injured in tackling the blaze, police and firefighters said.
The fire broke out just before 2 p.m. in the eight-story Yamagiwa Soft building, burning about 450 sq. meters of the first three floors. Sofmap Co. runs the shop, which mainly sells computer software. The building also houses a medical clinic, restaurants and other small stores.
About 70 customers and 50 workers were in the building when the fire broke out but all evacuated safely. A worker spotted smoke coming from an electricity outlet besides an escalator at the CD sales corner on the first floor.
