Japan and the Palestinian Authority will meet Thursday in Tokyo to discuss the peace process in the Middle East.
Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi said Friday the two sides will also discuss Japan's aid to the Palestinian Authority. The first such meeting was held in 2000, according to the ministry.
Kawaguchi and Tatsuo Arima, Japan's special envoy on the Middle East peace process, will meet Palestinian Foreign Minister Nabil Shaath and Finance Minister Salam Fayad.
The Japan-Palestinian Joint Committee Meeting, a working-level conference, is also expected to be held during the visit.
The Palestinian delegation will arrive in Tokyo on Wednesday for a four-day visit.
