Casio Computer Co. said Tuesday it posted a group net profit of 7.58 billion yen in the April-December period, reflecting brisk sales of digital consumer electronics products such as digital cameras and mobile phones.
In its consolidated earnings report for the first three quarters of fiscal 2003, Casio reported a pretax profit of 12.7 billion yen and sales of 368.46 billion yen.
No precise year-on-year comparisons were available as the company only began releasing quarterly results in the current fiscal year.
Nevertheless, Casio said that the sales figure for the nine-month period represents an increase of around 18 percent from a year earlier.
For the fiscal year as a whole, Casio expects to generate a net profit of 11 billion yen and a pretax profit of 18 billion yen on sales of 500 billion yen, in line with its November forecast.
In fiscal 2002, the company chalked up a net profit of 5.65 billion yen and a pretax profit of 12.27 billion yen, on sales of 440.57 billion yen.
