Sony Corp. reported Wednesday a 26 percent decline in net profit for the October-December period due to restructuring expenses.
But the company revised upward its full-year earnings projection to a net profit of 5.5 billion yen from 5 billion yen thanks to currency-related gains, and said its digital consumer electronics products showed brisk sales during the all-important yearend season.
Sony's net profit for the third quarter was 92.62 billion yen, down from 125.43 billion yen a year earlier. Sales edged up 0.7 percent to 2.32 trillion yen, a quarterly record.
