The Financial Services Agency will conduct special inspections of major banks to assess their loans to big borrowers, Financial Services Minister Heizo Takenaka said Tuesday.
The agency will check major banks' fiscal 2003 financial statements, he said without revealing precisely when the inspections will take place.
It is expected they will take place early next month.
