NTT Data Corp., the developer of the nationwide online automated teller machine network that malfunctioned Monday, said the system has resumed normal operations.
NTT Data said Tuesday the company completed work in the early morning on installing a new computer program to replace the one that caused the problems in the network linking ATMs at a wide range of financial institutions, including major commercial banks and regional banks.
The malfunction occurred shortly before noon Monday and lasted nearly four hours, making it hard for users to deposit and withdraw money.
It affected cash-card holders who tried to use the ATMs of financial institutions other than those that issued their cards.
