The health ministry has decided not to take a stab at revising guidelines for fertility treatment, according to ministry sources.
The ministry had been preparing a bill for the Diet based on a report compiled last year by a health panel. Lawmakers from the Liberal Democratic Party have voiced strong objections to the report.
LDP officials say it is ridiculous that the government should try to restrict people's right to reproduce.
