The Financial Services Agency plans to examine UFJ Bank's internal lending documents to see whether the bank has responded properly to the agency's inspections, financial sources said Saturday.

It has emerged that there may be other documents featuring different assessments of borrowers' financial health from those featured in official documents presented by the bank to the FSA, the sources said.

Since the bank has reportedly claimed that the documents it submitted were accurate, the FSA will carefully examine the matter, they said.

During its special inspection of major ailing borrowers in the fall, the FSA reportedly discovered a large number of documents showing that the actual financial conditions of borrowers were worse than the assessments featured in official documents.
