Japan Air System canceled 95 flights Tuesday to continue emergency inspections following the discovery of engine flaws in its MD-81 and MD-87 planes.

The cancellations affected some 4,900 passengers, according to the carrier.

JAS said it had taken all 25 of its MD-81 and MD-87 planes out of service by Monday and found engine cracks in 16 after inspecting 22. It plans to check the remaining planes by Wednesday morning.
