A man arrested Friday in connection with shots being fired at Aum Shinrikyo facilities in Tokyo and Osaka and a teachers' union office in Hiroshima, for which a rightist group claimed responsibility, has admitted orchestrating the attacks, investigative sources said Saturday.
Ichiro Murakami, 54, the chairman of a plastics company in Gifu, was arrested with five other men in connection with the incidents. Murakami is the president of a sword collectors' association that the five others also belong to.
The sources also said that other people may also have been involved in the attacks. Investigators plans to further question the six in custody to find out which of them played what roles in the attacks.
The attacks on Aum facilities in Tokyo on May 29 and in Osaka on June 13. The union office was shot at on June 27.
