The city of Kawasaki is looking for 26 foreigners who want to become members of its fifth Representative Assembly for Foreign Residents. The assembly discusses problems faced by foreigners in their everyday lives.
Selected members will be asked to attend about eight meetings a year and participate in other activities, including committees and field trips. The term of office is for two years beginning April 1.
Candidates must have been born on or before April 2, 1986, completed their foreign residence registration in Kawasaki on or before last April 1 and be able to read hiragana and hold discussions in Japanese. To apply, submit an application form by Jan. 15.
