The government should consider revising the Self-Defense Forces Law to allow SDF troops to guard Japanese embassies overseas, Senior Vice Foreign Minister Ichiro Aisawa said Tuesday.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda said later in the day, however, that the government's is not considering such a move.
Aisawa's remarks came in the wake of Saturday's fatal ambush of two Japanese diplomats in northern Iraq.
