Japanese nongovernmental organizations working in Iraq expressed concern Monday that their aid activities may face a strategic change given the weekend assassination of two Japanese diplomats in the country.

The NGOs were shocked by the news because many of them had close contacts with the victims -- Katsuhiko Oku and Masamori Inoue -- including exchanging security and other local information.

The groups said that once they obtain and analyze more information about the ambush, they may consider a change in their activities.
