Apple Computer Inc. of the United States will open its first overseas retail store in Tokyo's Ginza shopping district Sunday, company officials said.
The five-floor store, operated by Apple Japan Inc., will display and sell the company's latest computers, software and peripherals, the officials said Thursday.
Apple plans to set up a popular "Genius Bar," where customers can ask questions about products and receive service, they said.
The computer maker opened its first retail shop two years ago in the U.S., and the Ginza shop will be its 73rd overall, it said.
"We opened our first retail store just over two years ago and have since hosted more than 23 million visitors," Ron Johnson, Apple senior vice president of retail, said in a statement.
