The new bank planned by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government hopes to extend loans worth more than 1.6 trillion yen in its first three years.
According to a basic plan for the bank, three loan programs will be offered and 1.2 million multifunction smart cards will be issued during the three years, sources said Wednesday
The metro government hopes to launch the bank, designed to help fund small and midsize businesses, in April 2005.
