Some ruling bloc lawmakers and Defense Agency officials have been calling for a review of Japan's self-imposed ban on weapons exports.
The calls come at a time when Japan is conducting a joint study with the United States over missile defense technologies.
Fumio Kyuma, acting policy panel chief of the governing Liberal Democratic Party and a former Defense Agency chief, said in a speech Friday the ban should be eased to enable Japan to export missile parts to the U.S.
