The president of a Tokyo-based oil importing company and eight others have been arrested for allegedly evading more than 400 million in taxes on a large volume of diesel fuel imported from South Korea via dummy companies, police said Saturday.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government have searched the offices of Inter Energy, based in Sumida Ward.
The metropolitan government is planning to file a criminal complaint soon against Inter Energy President Masahiro Tabei and other staff, alleging a violation of the Local Tax Law, officials said.
