Nippon Television Network Corp. Chairman Seiichiro Ujiie will resign as chief executive officer over a ratings manipulation scandal, NTV said Tuesday.
The scandal involved producer Masaomi Ando, 41, who manipulated viewer ratings by using a 10.08 million yen fund he had illicitly obtained. He will be fired next Tuesday, NTV said.
NTV President Toshio Hagiwara meanwhile will be demoted to vice president. He will be replaced by NTV Vice Chairman Kohei Manabe, the TV network said.
