Microsoft Corp. and Waseda University have agreed to cooperate on fostering human resources specializing in computer security technology, Steven Ballmer, chief executive officer of the U.S. company, said Monday.
In a speech to about 600 students at the university in Tokyo, Ballmer emphasized the importance for governments and corporate bodies to cooperate on combating computer viruses, by pointing out that even Linux, which is open-source software, is vulnerable to computer viruses.
Microsoft will send staff to launch a course on security technology at Waseda University in April. The two entities will also conduct joint research.
