Consumer sentiment improved in October for the first time in four months due to a better economic outlook, according to a bimonthly report released Friday by the public Nippon Research Institute.
The institute said its index for consumer worries about their livelihood in the year ahead stood at 147 in October, down 8 points from the previous survey in August.
The institute operates under the Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
