NEC Corp. and its subsidiary NEC Soft Ltd. said Thursday they have reached an agreement with U.S. venture LifeSpanBioscience Inc. to develop a system to help diagnose cancer.
The development is in response to chronic shortages of pathologists specializing in cancer due to an increase in cancer patients worldwide, the two firms said.
The envisaged system will be mainly based on an image-recognition system developed by the Seattle-based company, the companies said.
