Toray Industries Inc. said Friday its group net profit for the six months to Sept. 30 soared 754.6 percent from a year earlier to 10.95 billion yen, due to aggressive structural reforms and the solid performance of its core textile business.
In its consolidated earnings report, Japan's biggest synthetic fiber maker posted a 191.7 percent jump in pretax profit to 22.97 billion yen, with revenue up 7.2 percent to 534.35 billion yen .
The company said its textile business was bolstered by increased domestic sales of nylon fibers, higher product prices and robust sales of continuous polyester fibers in South Korea and China.
