Hoya Corp. said Monday its group net profit for the fiscal half to Sept. 30 was 18.92 billion yen, up 27.5 percent from a year earlier mainly due to brisk demand in the electro-optics sector.
The producer of optical glass and eyeglasses said group sales grew 7.1 percent to 131.7 billion yen because orders for high-value-added products increased amid growing demand in the semiconductor market.
Increased sales of such products as digital cameras and personal computers also helped boost sales, the company said.
