The biggest electronic games show in Japan opened Friday for a three-day run, with online games figuring prominently, organizers said.
Tokyo Game Show 2003 is being held at the Makuhari Messe convention center in the city of Chiba. It opened to industry people Friday and will be open to the general public Saturday and Sunday.
Some 500 exhibits include mobile phone games, character games and game hardware, as well as online games, developed by about 110 companies, according to the show organizers, the Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association.
Exhibitors come from Japan, the United States, China, South Korea and Taiwan, and 150,000 people are expected to visit during the three-day period, the association said.
Among the exhibitors are NTT DoCoMo Inc., Softbank Publishing Inc., Sammy Corp., Nokia Japan Co. and Taito Corp.
