A man being taken away Friday by railway officials at Tokyo's Ueno Station after a woman commuter accused him of molesting her was killed after he jumped onto the tracks in an attempt to escape, the police said.
The incident occurred at 6:20 a.m., delaying thousands of commuters for more than an hour on the JR Yamanote Line. Police said the man was a 32-year-old unemployed man from Tokyo's Adachi Ward.
Two railway employees were leading the man to the station office when he suddenly jumped onto the tracks from the No. 3 platform. He headed toward the No. 2 platform on the opposite side but was hit by a Yamanote Line train, police said.
