Snow Brand Milk Products Co. on Tuesday reported group sales of 80.82 billion yen for the April-June quarter, about 8 percent more than its earlier projection.
The dairy products maker attributed the better-than-expected sales to increased sales by the parent firm and marketing affiliates, as well as increased sales to nongroup companies.
But the April-June sales figures were below the previous year's levels, with the company having spun off its milk and ice cream businesses in fiscal 2002.
The company did not provide profit data for the April-June quarter or a year-on-year percentage comparison on sales because it is the first time for it to release quarterly earnings data.
