An award-winning human rights lawyer from the Israeli-occupied Gaza Strip will visit Japan to speak about the situation there and how global society can help the region move toward peace.
Raji Sourani, 50, has represented political prisoners detained and tortured by the Israeli government. He has been put in jail many times for his activities. Recently, he has also spoken out against human rights abuses committed by the Palestinian Authority.
Sourani will speak in Osaka at 2 p.m. July 19 at at pia NPO, a five-minute walk from Osaka-ko Station, and in Tokyo at 1 p.m. July 21 at Seiryo Kaikan, a five-minute walk from Nagata-cho Station.
The Tokyo lecture will cost 1,000 yen, while the Osaka event is free.
