Former senior Bank of Japan official Michiaki Morita joined Accenture Japan Ltd. as a senior adviser Monday, the Japan unit of the U.S. consulting firm Accenture Ltd. said.
Morita, 54, a former director general of the BOJ's operations department, joined the financial services industry group of Accenture Japan, whose pursuits include providing Japanese businesses with advice on fund management and establishment of relevant systems, the company said.
Accenture Japan said it hopes Morita, with his experience in building up electronic systems at financial institutions and governmental offices, will help it expand its customer base.
Morita joined the BOJ in 1972 and became head of its operations department in 1999. He quit the central bank Sunday.
Morita followed in the footsteps of Izumi Yamashita, a former head of the BOJ's financial markets department, who worked for Accenture Japan until March before becoming a board member of Japan Post.
