Nintendo Co. said Thursday its consolidated net profit fell 36.8 percent to 67.27 billion yen in fiscal 2002, largely due to lower-than-expected sales of game consoles.
The drop ended a two-year run of record net profits on the strength of brisk sales of the GameCube and hand-held Game Boy Advance consoles as well as software titles.
Group pretax profit tumbled 49.1 percent to 95.04 billion yen on a 9.1 percent fall in sales to 504.14 billion yen.
