The Japan Chapter of the International Advertising Association has appointed Toshiaki Ogasawara, publisher of The Japan Times, as its new president.

He will replace Saburosuke Suzuki, honorary chairman of Ajinomoto Co., the association announced Thursday.

The IAA is an international network of advertising, media and marketing representatives. Headquartered in New York, the group aims at facilitating the sound development of advertising industries. It claims some 5,400 corporate and individual members in 95 countries.

At its annual meeting Wednesday, the IAA's Japan Chapter appointed Tateo Mataki, president of Dentsu Inc., and Ryoichi Sato, advertising director of the Asahi Shimbun, as its vice presidents. It retained Reijiro Hattori, honorary chairman of Seiko Corp, as another vice president.
