Isotech Co., the only maker of isolators in Japan, has been inundated with orders from local governments across the country. The device comes at a hefty price tag of about 5.2 million yen.
Isolators use negative air pressure technology to prevent air from leaking out, which prevents medical staff and others from becoming infected from dangerous pathogens like severe acute respiratory syndrome.
