Toyota Motor Corp. continued to perform strongly in fiscal 2002, setting new sales and profit highs for the third consecutive year, the nation's leading automaker said Thursday.
Toyota reported a group net profit of 944.67 billion yen for the year through March, up 53.4 percent.
Company officials attributed the thriving performance to a 300 billion yen reduction in manufacturing costs, as well as increased sales in North America.
