A U.S. federal district court has dismissed a patent-infringement lawsuit against Furukawa Electric Co. because the case was outside its jurisdiction, the company said Tuesday.
The court in Connecticut dismissed the lawsuit April 15, Furukawa said. It was filed by U.S. nonferrous material firm Olin Corp. in January 2002.
Olin claimed the Japanese electric wire and cable maker had infringed on a copper-alloy patent it held.
The court said the case does not fall under its jurisdiction because Furukawa did not sell the copper-alloy products in Connecticut, Furukawa said.
Olin filed a patent infringement complaint against Furukawa last year with the Tokyo District Court over the same products. Furukawa has sought invalidation of that complaint.
