Honda Motor Co. reported Friday a record group net profit of 426.66 billion yen for fiscal 2002, up 17.6 percent from the previous year.
The firm attributed the increase to rising overseas sales and purchasing-cost reductions.
The automaker posted record group sales of 7.97 trillion yen, up 8.3 percent. Its consolidated operating profit rose 7.8 percent on a year-on-year basis to 689.45 billion yen, while its consolidated pretax profit rose 10.6 percent to 609.76 billion yen.
