Anticipating that the upcoming Visit Japan campaign will prove successful, businesses and local governments are developing strategies to draw prospective foreign tourists out of major cities and into their regions.
Last week, Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Keio Dentetsu Bus Corp. and Fuji Kyuko Co. began selling three-day excursion tickets for foreigners that provide access to areas surrounding the hot spring resort of Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, and the foot of Mount Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture.
The tickets, available year round at the Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center in Shinjuku Station, cost 7,200 yen for adults and 3,600 yen for children and grant unlimited access to the three companies' transport facilities. The center can handle inquiries in English, Chinese and Korean.
