Consumer groups on Monday urged that planned legislation to shield corporate whistle-blowers from retaliation by employers include a provision to protect workers who report fraudulent business deals, government officials said.
The request was made at a subcommittee meeting of the government's Social Policy Council, the officials said.
Panel members were divided over the proposal and postponed finalizing an outline for the legislation until their next meeting May 7, they said.
