Kirin Brewery Co. said Wednesday it has bought from French wine and spirits group Pernod Ricard Co. its 50 percent stake in Kirin Distillery Co., making it a wholly owned unit of the major Japanese brewer.
Kirin Brewery did not disclose the value of the equity purchase from the joint venture partner, which was completed Tuesday and is intended to enhance the collective strength of its corporate group.
Kirin Distillery, formerly known as Kirin-Seagram Co., is based in Gotemba, Shizuoka Prefecture. Its main products are nonbeer alcoholic beverages such as liqueurs, wines and "chu-hai" distilled spirits.
