The speaker of the House of Representatives on Tuesday verbally warned two of the chamber's Legislative Bureau officials over their alleged coaching of former farm minister Tadamori Oshima before a Diet inquiry.
Tamisuke Watanuki gave verbal warnings to Katsuhiro Kubota, chief of the bureau, and Yoshikazu Koriyama, deputy chief of the bureau. Koriyama and his staff allegedly compiled a crib sheet for Oshima.
Some opposition parties had called for stronger punishment, but Watanuki determined that it was not fully confirmed whether they had compiled the notes.
