Fujitsu Ltd. and U.S. chip maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. have agreed to integrate their flash-memory operations under a joint venture to create the world's second-largest manufacturer of such devices.
FASL Limited Liability Co., based in Sunnyvale, Calif., will be owned 60 percent by AMD and 40 percent by Fujitsu, the companies said Tuesday. It will be in charge of marketing, development and production of flash-memory products for both firms.
The joint venture, scheduled to become operational sometime between July and September, will provide products to Fujitsu and AMD for sale under the FASL brand, they said.
