A 37-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of threatening to bomb the Iraqi Embassy in Tokyo, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
Hiroshi Kawamura, a resident of Itabashi Ward, Tokyo, allegedly telephoned the embassy about 10 times between March 20 and March 23 and threatened to bomb the office. According to investigative sources, Kawamura said, "Leave Tokyo immediately, or I will bomb the embassy and kill the ambassador."
Kawamura also said he "resented the fact that Iraq has not fully complied with weapons inspectors from the United Nations" on its suspected production sites of weapons of mass destruction, according to the sources.
