OSAKA -- The late actress Chocho Miyako had 430 million yen worth of taxable assets, sources said Tuesday.
The assets included cash, savings, stocks and real estate in Minoo, Osaka Prefecture, they said. The inheritance tax is estimated at 116 million yen.
Four of her family members who inherited the assets are now engaged in a dispute over her wealth.
Miyako, whose real name was Suzuko Hyuga, died in October 2000 at age 80.
She gained popularity through the comic "Meoto Zenzai" talk show she hosted with her late husband, Yuji Nanto, making full use of the humorous features of the Osaka dialect.
The program, which aired on radio and television for 20 years through 1975, involved Miyako and Nanto inviting ordinary couples into the studio to hear their ups and downs.
Miyako also appeared as Kiku, Tora-san's mother, in some of the "Otoko Wa Tsurai Yo" ("It's Tough Being a Man") series of movies directed by Yoji Yamada and starring the late Kiyoshi Atsumi as Tora-san.
