Nissan Motor Co. on Thursday released the fully redesigned Skyline Coupe in Japan in the hope the new version of the popular model further accelerates the carmaker's performance.
The new automatic transmission model has an engine displacement of 3,500cc and features sporty styling and high performance, company officials said.
The manual transmission model will hit the domestic market Feb. 6.
The coupe was launched in North America in November as the Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe, a Nissan official said, adding that Nissan has received about 5,200 orders there in the last two months.
A combined sales target for the model in Japan and North America is set at 16,500 annually. The model is priced between 3.25 million yen and 3.56 million yen in Japan.
The Skyline Coupe is qualified for ultra-low emission vehicle certification by the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry. Nitrogen oxide and hydrocarbon emissions from the model are 75 percent lower than 2000 emission standards.
