DVDs featuring Warner Brothers cartoons will be available for 500 yen each at 200 outlets of Seven-Eleven Japan Co. in Saitama Prefecture starting later this month, Japan's largest convenience-store chain operator said Tuesday.
Seven-Eleven realized what it calls "one-coin DVDs" in a tieup with Warner Home Video, the video operation division of Warner Entertainment Japan Inc.
The low price was achieved by shortening the content of each DVD to about 30 minutes, much shorter than the usual two hours or so, it said.
The stores will initially sell DVDs comprising a series of five "Tom and Jerry" programs at the stores. They will be available in either Japanese or English.
