Japanese ambassadors in the Middle East will meet in Dubai on Dec. 4 to discuss the situation in Iraq and how to rescue Japanese citizens there if it is attacked, Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi said Tuesday.
Ambassadors in Jordan, Kuwait and 14 other countries, as well as ministry officials from Tokyo, will attend the meeting, Kawaguchi said.
"The situation (in the Middle East) is unpredictable," Kawaguchi told a news conference Tuesday morning. "We'll discuss diplomatic efforts, regional stability and the protection of Japanese citizens."
