Toshiba Corp. said Tuesday it has developed a voltage regulator integrated circuit for automobile applications that achieves the world's lowest power consumption in this class of device.

The new IC, the TB9001FN, consumes 95 microamperes, about 20 percent lower than Toshiba's most efficient voltage regulator IC, Toshiba said.

Toshiba said it will begin mass producing the IC in the second quarter of 2003 at a monthly pace of 1 million units.
