Sky Perfect Communications Inc., operator of digital satellite broadcaster Sky PerfecTV, said Friday it has obtained exclusive rights to broadcast Italian Serie A soccer league games.
The company said the Japan broadcast rights cover three seasons -- 2002-2003, 2003-2004 and 2005-2006. It did not divulge the value of the contract.
Sky PerfecTV will broadcast live all matches in which Italy-based playmaker Hidetoshi Nakata of Parma and fellow Japanese midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura of Reggina play, the company said.
Sky PerfecTV's sports channel will also broadcast all opening matches of Serie A teams on Sept. 15 and Sept. 16, it said.
Opening matches have been delayed from the originally scheduled Aug. 31 because of stalled talks on broadcasting rights between Serie A and Italian TV broadcasters, it added.
