A North Korean vice minister of trade is in Japan on an 11-day unofficial visit to explain Pyongyang's new market-based reforms to Koreans living in the country, a Korean association said Monday.
Vice Minister of Foreign Trade Kim Yong Sul arrived in Tokyo on Saturday at the invitation of a group of Korean businessmen in Japan, according to So Chung On, spokesman for the General Association of Korean Residents (Chongryon).
"Today he is meeting to explain the recent North Korean economic situation and the new measures for Koreans in Japan, for the members of that association," So said.
